Vans such as Ford Transit vans have since their introduction been a lifeline for musicians and bands looking to transport themselves and their equipment safely and economically throughout the country. Many of these workhorse vans were replaced and scrapped over the years, but some still remain standing as a legacy to many musical genres past and present.
One van in America has just found itself onto the market with quite a history, the van in question, a 1972 Dodge with murals and artwork by one of the musical worlds most famous and influential artists, Kurt Cobain.
The deceased guitarist/vocalist of ‘grunge’ band Nirvana contributed to many hand drawn images and decorations on the van, with the most visual being that of a hand drawn mural of the band KISS on the left side. The tour van was owned and used by the American punk / metal band ‘The Melvins’, but has changed hands over the years and now the current owner has put the piece of mobile musical history up for sale.
Along with Cobain’s mural, several other significant signatures both etched inside the vehicle and on two included number plates are included with the sale. The van is currently up for sale on eBay with 157 bids at $99,999.99 and currently has not met its reserve.
