Raleigh, N.C. (PRUnderground) October 28th, 2014

The Me Fine Foundation is proud to announce that they raised over $100,000 at their annual gala held at Marbles Kids Museum on October 17th, 2014. The Me Fine Gala presented by Centrifuge Media, was a night of celebration featuring casino gaming, fun and prizes, topped off by the presentation of the “Hero for Life” award. The gala serves as the non-profit’s annual signature fundraiser, to provide financial assistance and emotional support programs to parents and caregivers whose children are receiving long term medical treatment from Duke and UNC Children’s Hospitals.

The “Hero for Life” award is the Me Fine Foundations’s highest honor, designed to recognize those who go above and beyond to help critically ill kids and families, specifically Me Fine Foundation’s mission. This year’s award was presented to childhood cancer advocate and Me Fine Foundation board member Diane Moore. Moore, who lost her daughter Colleen to cancer, has spent years of her life volunteering and advocating for childhood cancer patients and their families.

“What an amazing night; I can’t thank Centrifuge Media and our other sponsors enough for their involvement. The outpouring of generosity from those in attendance was equally as impressive. I’m so glad we were able to recognize Diane for her work, and to do so at such an unbelievable evening, “ said Joey Powell, Executive Director of the Me Fine Foundation.

The Me Fine Foundation provides hope via financial assistance and emotional support, to parents and caregivers whose children are receiving long term medical treatment in Duke and UNC Children’s Hospitals. Parking, gas, food and other living expenses not directly associated with medical care can mount and create hardships. Me Fine Foundation, Inc. acts a stopgap providing funds to the families during the treatment process to help ease financial pressure.  In addition, the Foundation funds emotional support programs administered by the hospitals, to help lessen the psychological burden of children and their families as they endure treatment.
