This week Kelsey Giarola in collaboration with the Queensland Youth Orchestra (QYO) sings to turn the tables so that world peace will instead be synonymous with Jazz, Orchestra and Big Band!

Saturday 1st November 7pm sees the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) play host to Kelsey Giarola alongside the Queensland Youth Orchestra for their annual finale concert. This latest event with QYO made QPAC open it’s balconies to meet an 1800 strong audience demand for seats.

The QYO Finale Concert is a “best of 2014” presentation by each orchestra and ensemble in Queensland’s world-class youth orchestra organization with 470 musicians aged 9 to 25 perform in 7 orchestras and ensembles. – More information see www.Qyo.org.au.

Kelsey Giarola is a talented and versatile Australian contemporary vocalist, singer and performer. With many years of professional experience both on the stage and in the recording studio with a recently launched debut album of popular covers, “Love me or Leave me”, Kelsey’s life is devoted to making music. Having graduated from the Queensland Conservatorium of music in 2012, Kelsey understands how challenging and rewarding the music industry is.

With her singing career starting at 4 years of age her performance highlights include the Brisbane Powerhouse, QPAC, QPAC Green Jam, Queensland Conservatorium’s Jazz in the Pocket, the Brisbane Jazz Club, Suncorp Stadium, Opera Queensland, Sydney Harbour alongside The Australian Chamber Orchestra and various private functions nationally.

As a finalist in James Morrison’s nationally acclaimed Generations In Jazz Vocal Scholarship Competition, Kelsey was further requested to perform alongside James Morrison himself in a tour of Western Queensland. Kelsey’s mountain of fast accumulating accolades also saw her awarded a full scholarship to attend the New York Voices Summer Camp held in Ohio, USA last year. Kelsey’s singing collaborations and mentorship with QYO aim to address social, cultural and economic challenges faced by diverse, and often marginalised youth and communities and help provide creative positive pathways for aspiring young artists.
