Hurricane Recovery with Nadler Modular Structures Becomes School’s Long-Term Strategy

Jewish school destroyed by Hurricane Sandy looks to modular buildings beyond disaster recovery, and as an enabler for growth and fundraising

New York, N.Y. (PRUnderground) October 8th, 2015

After using Nadler Modular Structures to quickly rebuild after Hurricane Sandy, Prioirty-1 Torah Academy sees modular buildings as an important part of its long-term strategy to meet the growth and changing needs of its student population.

With recent hurricane activity in the Atlantic including Hurricane Joaquin, Nadler Modular Structures and client Priority-1 Torah Academy, are reminded of the damage inflicted by Hurricane Sandy almost exactly three years ago.

“After the hurricane hit, we were forced to operate from the basements of local residents,” said Rabbi Cohen, Founder and Administrator of Priority-1 Torah Academy.  “Our school was completely destroyed, and we needed a fast and cost effective solution to get our students back in the classroom.  Nadler Modular had a very good reputation among our community, so we looked to them for help.  In just a few months our new classrooms were built and move-in ready, and there was no compromise on quality.  These buildings are made to last.”

Today the Academy has ten Nadler Modular buildings, providing everything from a kitchen and dining room, an office and administrative wing, a study hall, and even an exercise room.

Rabbi Cohen and his staff have come to learn that modular construction offers schools the benefits of not just faster construction speed and increased flexibility, but can also help improve the success of critical fundraising campaigns.

“Our donors appreciated the value and frugality that’s associated with modular construction,” said Rabbi Cohen. “Donors were excited because we were seen as being fiscally conservative, so they felt like they were getting a deal.  Modular also gave us the flexibility to build in stages, and therefore raise money in stages.  This strategy has enabled us to build high quality structures without any financing; we were able to fund each project, with all cash, another savings for us.”

Modular structures can be an excellent alternative to traditional construction or renovation, especially if time and money are a priority.    When asked which schools should consider modular structures, Rabbi Cohen explained, “People like options.  Donors included.  Modular should be a standard option for every school that’s looking to build a building.”
