Fidelity Communications Builds Fiber Route for Maumelle, North Little Rock Businesses

Industry: Technology

The 2.5-mile route along Maumelle Boulevard offers access to up to gigabit high-speed Internet, data connectivity and phone services.

Maumelle, AR (PRUnderground) October 20th, 2015

Businesses along a 2.5-mile stretch of Maumelle Boulevard can now connect to fiber optic-based services from Fidelity Communications. Fidelity has invested significant capital in the project, serving sections of Maumelle and North Little Rock.

Offering access to up to gigabit high-speed Internet, data connectivity and phone services, the new fiber backbone extends from near the Crystal Hill Road intersection on Maumelle Boulevard to the Northshore Business Complex, just east of the I-430 interchange.

The route includes sections of Counts Massie Road, Collins Industrial Place, Richardson Drive and Rowlett Lane on the west end and sections of Northshore Drive, Young Road and Cook’s Landing Road on the east end. As many as 300 additional businesses can be served, with each address connected to the fiber plant on an individual basis. By using fiber-rich lines from the cabinet, Fidelity has added capacity to serve businesses outside the established route.

Currently 23 businesses are using the new backbone, with many more in process or expected to be in process within the next year, said Fidelity Business Sales Associate Dan Williams.  “We’ve had an outstanding response to this, and it’s ongoing,” he said.

Almost all of the remaining businesses are in long term agreements with competitive providers that must run their course before they can change to Fidelity, he noted. Many are paying much higher prices for lower speeds.

About 70 percent of the fiber route is in North Little Rock with the remainder in Maumelle. Williams said this type of high-speed service, coupled with the development of the Maumelle/North Little Rock Business Corridor, is motivation for businesses planning to relocate.

Fidelity Operations Manager Jim Miller agrees. “The new Fidelity fiber route entices businesses to relocate here and aids in the economic growth and development of the entire area,” he said. “It attracts businesses both large and small and makes them more competitive, regardless of size.”

Fidelity Arkansas General Manager Darrick Collier said everyone benefits from such a project. “The Maumelle/North Little Rock Fiber Route provides the opportunity for local businesses to offer superior services to their customer base,” he said.  “Residents living in the area benefit from having businesses with faster and more efficient processes which enhance customers’ lives in both small and larger ways.  The technological ripple for businesses and residents alike are immeasurable.”

Fiber services will be expanded beyond proposed routes where possible as costs allow. “Fidelity continues to invest to service the needs of our business and residential customers in the markets we operate in,” said Director of Sales Holly Bryant.  “Using fiber for this expansion will help futureproof the needs of the businesses in this area for many years to come.”
