Potential to Serve 90 Businesses Along Highway 63; Offers Access to Gigabit Internet

Businesses along a nearly four-mile stretch of Highway 63 in West Plains will soon be able to connect to fiber optic-based services from Fidelity Communications. Fidelity has invested significant capital in the project.
Offering access to up to gigabit high-speed Internet, data connectivity and phone services, the new fiber backbone weaves along the highway from West 8th Street, circles the Wal-Mart Supercenter property and ends just south of the Fidelity office, west of the Business 63 intersection.
“This area of town is where the new growth is,” said Engineering Manager John DeBroeck. “This project expands our fiber footprint to more areas where we can provide services to any businesses that want broadband.” The 6.7 miles of fiber covers 3.8 miles of Highway 63 and positions Fidelity to serve nearly 90 businesses. That’s in addition to the 36.3 miles of Fidelity fiber already in place in West Plains.
Fiber services will be expanded beyond proposed routes where possible as costs allow. “Fidelity continues to invest to service the needs of our business and residential customers in the markets we operate in,” said Director of Sales Holly Bryant. “Utilizing fiber for this expansion will futureproof the needs of the businesses in this area for many years to come.”
