For a great summer holiday for families, HF Holidays – the UK’s largest walking and leisure activity holiday organisation which is celebrating its Centenary in 2013 – suggests its seven-night Family Walking & Cycling holiday in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales.
Designed for the whole family to enjoy, the holiday is fully-guided with routes – offering a choice of short, medium or long cycle rides – on three days on traffic-free and level disused railway tracks and tarmac surfaces through the scenic limestone countryside of the White Peak.
Highlights include pedalling along the Tissington Trail with a visit to the charming village of Tissington and on the Manifold Track through a tree-lined valley with rocky outcrops as well as riding the Monsal Trail.
On a further two days there’s a choice of easy, medium or hard guided walks with options heading into the Derwent Valley and along the Cromford Canal towpath to Arkwright’s Mill as well as along the Gritstone Edges and through the Chatsworth estate to Bakewell.
Cycle hire is included, as is lots of family fun at the company’s Peveril of the Peak Country House in the village of Thorpe and less than a mile from the famous stepping stones across the River Dove.
The cost of this seven-night holiday starting 17 August is £699 per adult, children 11 to 17 years are £359 each, whilst the cost for each child under 11 is £49 (child prices when sharing with parents). These prices include full-board accommodation, the full holiday programme, cycle hire and the services of HF Holidays’ leaders.
Grandparents accompanying a family booking – at least two full-paying adults and one child – receive a 10% discount.
