Enjoy Summer Celebrations With Villa Parade

Visitors to Majorca (Mallorca) this summer are in for quite a treat when it comes to enjoying festivals throughout the wonderful Balearic Island.

Whilst staying in a Villa in Majorca, visitors can enjoy many traditional and historic festivals such as the Fiesta La Patrona. This unique event is celebrated between the start of July and the 2nd of August. The highlight of the fiesta is a mock fight that represents a battle that took place in 1550 when the Pollensa townsfolk fought off what was to be the largest pirate attack in their history. Each year, the streets that are aligned with villas in Pollensa become packed with costumed revellers, wonderful displays of traditional dance and live music giving it a great party and celebratory atmosphere.

Another great summer event to experience on the Island takes place in the Can Picafort area. Each year, on August the 14th, the resort’s harbour becomes filled with tiny boats and many spectators line the harbour side. The boats release hundreds of rubber ducks that people swim up to and collect. Prizes are awarded at the end of the day depending on the amount of ducks collected. The Festival is a great day out and also features plenty of traditional Mallorcan song and dance to keep people of all ages entertained.
