The southern county of East Sussex is well known for its vast range of historical buildings and castles dating back to medieval times and beyond. This annual Medieval Festival is a spectacular event which takes place on August 25, 26 and 27 in the fabulous grounds of Herstmonceux Castle over the three day period. The festival offers a magnificent celebration of the Middle Ages and the lifestyle of that period.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a vast array of entertainment throughout the festival; this will include twice daily battles with over 1000 Knights, Bowmen and Men-at-Arms taking place. The festival will also feature armoured knights and jousting events, ‘skill-at-arms’ tournaments on horseback, plus falconry displays, archery competitions, puppeteers, strolling minstrels, court jesters, Europe’s largest medieval traders’ market, craft stalls, living history encampments, music, dance, storytelling, games and shows, hog roasts, beer taverns and a spectacular grand parades. This festival will show off England’s largest medieval battle display during the daily performances.
