New York (PRUnderground) November 11th, 2014

Paul Miller, who has led the popularization of the term “digital workplace” and authored two books on the topic, will speak at the Future of Work Summit on the subject of “The Human-Centred Digital Workplace”.

On November 25th at the Kensington Close Hotel in London, Paul Miller, CEO and Founder of the Digital Workplace Group (DWG), will join digital leaders from many large organizations to speak about how modern technology is changing work.

The Future of Work Summit is sponsored by Ovum, an industry body that aims to keep senior organizational technology leaders current with IT developments and trends.

The summit’s theme of “Turning the connected employee into a competitive advantage” will explore how organizations can leverage social and mobile technology for innovation, efficiency and employee engagement.

Miller’s presentation on “The Human-Centred Digital Workplace” will explore how organizations can let a user-first ethos rooted in business needs lead the technology, rather than vice versa. Miller has given a variation of this presentation at other conferences and to senior teams at large organizations, such as Adobe.

Miller’s presentation will articulate the harsh contrast between the warm and inviting design of many modern physical workplaces and the jarring, uncoordinated experience presented by most digital workplaces.

This presentation topic relates closely to Miller’s new book, The Digital Renaissance of Work: Delivering digital workplaces fit for the future, co-authored with Elizabeth Marsh, Director of Research for DWG.

This new book, released on Amazon on October 28th, was preceded by Miller’s 2012 book The Digital Workplace: How technology is liberating work. These two books, along with the work of Miller’s company, DWG, have helped to popularize the term “digital workplace” and spur on the public debate that is exploring the concept.

For over a decade DWG, previously known as the Intranet Benchmarking Forum, has researched, evaluated and benchmarked intranets from major global organizations such as IKEA, EY, and ExxonMobil. That benchmarking model has evolved to cover enterprise collaboration platforms, mobile intranets and, more recently, the broader digital workplace.

Miller’s presentation at the Future of Work Summit will pull from this extensive experience of evaluating and helping to improve the digital workplaces of leading global organizations.
