Devon Destinations get ready for the Early Spring Bloom

Industry: Travel

As winter creeps towards its end and the country starts to thaw, people in Devon are eagerly awaiting the blooming of Spring’s first flowers.

UK (PRUnderground) February 7th, 2012

As spring spreads through the country, you can track the blooming flowers as they spread from south to north. Counties like Devon, located right down in the south west, start getting their colourful displays much earlier than their northern counterparts, and anybody who’s planning a stay at one of our holiday parks in Devon when we open in March will be in for a treat.

We’ve already seen the first snowdrops start to flower in Devon, and Hartland Abbey, which is famous for its huge snowdrop bloom, is preparing to celebrate its Snowdrop and Wildflower Weekend this Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile, in South Devon, you can see this year’s snowdrop crop in plenty of spots around Dartmoor.

The bluebells and daffodils will be among the next to appear, and Torbay is perfect for daffodil spotters thanks to its microclimate, making it much warmer and milder than other parts of the south coast; the same thing that makes holiday parks around Torbay so popular also means that flowers bloom earlier.

For bluebells, you want to head to woodland. The forest walks around Dartmoor are a good bet, as are the National Trust walking routes around Wembury.

Regardless of where you decide to head, you can’t help but notice as the flowers of Devon start to put on their annual, colourful displays. Whether you’re walking the coast, driving to one of the popular Devon attractions, or heading to or from your Park Holidays UK caravan park, Devon in bloom creates a beautiful destination for your holiday.
