This week has seen the bi-annual Delhi Auto Expo opened this week. The event has significantly increased in popularity for the exhibiting and demand for large vans and has been one of the main talking points of the show for visitors. The range saw Ford Transit vans from Europe to the USA’s “Econoline” range, as 2011 brought promising van sales that indicating the world’s preferred vehicle type of choice in the business world.
Ford has seen the Indian market, in particular, showing a much greater interest in larger automobiles and light commercial vehicles than ever before. This has been emphasized with many more business-friendly sized vehicles required in an ever-demanding and rapidly expanding economy.
It has even been predicted by Industry experts that the India’s demand for vans will actually eclipse that of the demand for smaller every day cars within the next few years. The Industry experts “IHS Automotive” have said that van and SUV sales are expected to reach annual sales figures of staggering 1.3 million by 2020, which is a significant rise compared to current annual sales figures of 434,000.
As new Ford vans are set to have development and production in India – as they will be basing production of their new EcoSport model in the country, the ever-reliable and popular manufacturer Ford is sure to be a firm favourite and lead the way for the future in this developing market.
