Cornwall is #openforbusiness this Easter says The Valley

Mainland Britain’s most southerly county is #openforbusiness this Easter, says the manager of a gated hamlet of luxury holiday cottages.

David Reynolds, manager of The Valley Resort in Carnon Downs, says he and his staff are looking forward to welcoming guests to the county, which was never closed at all – despite what the media may have said.

There has been talk in the press of how Cornwall’s tourist industry, battered by Atlantic storms in January and February, may have struggled to pick itself up in time for the start of the spring season.

But David says that’s not the case.

“Some places around the county were affected by the storms,” he said, “but in Cornwall we’re used to that.

“It’s not unusual for us to have winter storms which can cause some damage, but tourism businesses down here are very resilient and this year particularly have pulled out all the stops to be ready in time.

“There won’t be any problems this Spring in Cornwall with tourists unable to visit attractions or try out experiences because of storm damage, that’s for sure.”

That’s certainly the case at The Valley’s boutique cottages Cornwall, which was lucky enough to emerge virtually unscathed from the storms, and was one of the first businesses to take up the #openforbusiness cause.

The #openforbusiness campaign was started on twitter as a means of spreading word that, contrary to popular belief, Cornwall wasn’t a total wash out.

“We’re enjoying some wonderful Cornish sunshine this week,” said David, “and expect that to continue so we’re really looking ford to welcoming our guests to The Valley.”
