We give you an insight into Irina Mappin, a successful business woman, what makes her tick and where it all began.

Irina Mappin was born and grew up in Kazakhstan. Once her schooling was completed in her home country, she then moved to England where she studied economics and political science at a UK university.
Irina Mappin is widely known for being a humanitarian, an entrepreneur but she has hobbies that include being a collector of art as well as ballet. Ballet is one of Irina’s great loves – she studied choreography when she was much younger. Another keen interest of Mrs Mappin is that of nature. Luckily her life in the picturesque surroundings of Tintagel, Cornwall mean that she is surrounded by the things she loves.
Since 2001, Irina Mappin has been one of the proprietors of the Camelot Castle Hotel in Tintagel, Cornwall, when she married her now husband John Mappin in Kazakhstan. Since then they have been warmly welcoming artists to come to the hotel and learn, work and be inspired in the creative atmosphere of the hotel and the aforementioned surroundings. Ted Stourton, is a well-known artist and is the co-owner of Camelot Castle Hotel along with Mr and Mrs Mappin. He works at his studio that is based in the hotel. The three hotel owners devised a programme, Artists in Residence, whereby they allow artists with a devoted passion to communicate light and truth through their works, can come to the hotel free of charge and dedicate themselves to their craft.
Irina’s mother is Muslim and her father is a Christian, which is where her beliefs of tolerance and unity derive from.
If you have ever been to the Camelot Castle Hotel’s website or indeed the hotel itself you would see that the hotel she co-owns with her husband and Ted, then you would of seen that Irina has a great love of dogs and that they promote a dog-friendly service at the hotel.
Irina takes every opportunity to arrange Kazakhstan-related events at Camelot Castle Hotel. The country’s Olympic team recently benefitted from her creative ideas, and a diplomatic reception was held at the Castle in honour of the birthday of the country’s President, Nursultan Abishuly Nazarbayev.
