Christmas at Hidden Hearing, Bray

Industry: Healthcare

A day in the life. . . . Hearing Aid Audiologist Keith Ross tells us what a working week is like at Christmas time in Bray.

Ireland (PRUnderground) December 20th, 2013

I’m usually in the Hidden Hearing Branch in Bray at about 8am every day, I find it good to get in early and get ahead of the day as there are plenty if things to do like replying to emails, programming hearing aids, keep up to date with paperwork and the latest product information but also I find it’s a good time of the day for a test or a service as it suits many people who would be on their way to work.

Christmas time in Hidden Hearing Bray can be hectic. There is a sense of urgency in the air as people like to make sure that their hearing will be perfect for Christmas and many of them come in for a check up. There is also a great atmosphere in the branch at Christmas time as the festive mood around Bray is infectious and of course most retail outlets in the town have their decorations up, as do we.

The run up to Christmas is a very busy but happy time. We still have to look after our service checks, our six month appointments and of course anyone new to the branch looking for a free hearing screening. I try to schedule the half hour service calls to very early in the morning and late in the afternoon as a hearing test takes a full hour. However all sorts of adjustments can take place during a service, such as a person’s hearing might have declined and the aid will need to be sharpened up.  A lot of day is spent consulting people and doing a free diagnosis of their hearing and as we offer free hearing screenings we tend to be very busy every day.

We deal a lot with people here at Hidden Hearing Bray, and it is one of my favourite parts of the job. I like to build relationships and great service, and we do that here by keeping in touch with our customers regularly, for example we send them a letter every six months to check in on how they are doing with their hearing devices.

Most of the time people are delighted with their devices but sometimes they need to get it readjusted as their hearing may have changed or they need their free batteries.  We offer a free lifetime aftercare service.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is when someone comes in and they don’t realise they have hearing loss but when I fit them with hearing aids they can’t believe the difference.
