Chef Mike of MileStone Restaurant in Albany NY Named Rising Star Chef 2013

The young and talented Chef Michal Mastrantuono of the popular Milestone Restaurant in Albany NY, has just been named an Albany Times Union Rising Star Chef 2013

Each year The Albany Chefs Food & Wine Festival showcases the top Chefs throughout the enitre region. The event draws over 2,500 people to receptions, tastings, competitions and a gala dinner. One competiton which is a favorite among attendees is the Rising Star Chefs 2013. This event showcases the most talented, up & coming chefs in the region.
One of this years winners was young Michael Mastrantuono of The Milestone Restaurant in Glenmont,NY. Chef Mike as he is known, was selected from among 10 finalist by the voters. Voters included the selection committee, and the general public which tasted the food cooked by these great up and coming chefs.
In order to be selected to participate, all nominees were asked to meet a minimum of two points of the following criteria as well as complete a stringent application process:
- Chef/Owner of a Restaurant that is under 2 years in operation
- Chef that is using innovative techniques (i.e molecular gastronomy)in food production
- First Time Executive Chef or Executive Sous Chef
- Chef has demonstrated a commitment to community service
- Chef that demonstrates originality & creativity in menu design
- Chef that promote and utilize local produce and ingredients whenever possible.
Chef Mike is an extremely talented young Chef. He has appeared on NBC cooking his now famous Lobster Mac & Cheese. He has also had numerous write ups about his natural talent.
The Times Union wrote, “A talented young man with a rare natural sense of the way foods fit together”
Chef Mike will now be mentored by one of the Arts signature Chefs for an entire year. Sky is the limit for this rising star of the culinary world.
