Cheese Factory Restaurant Becomes the First and Only Exclusively Vegan Restaurant in South Wisconsin

The Wisconsin-based Cheese Factory Restaurant goes completely non-dairy in the heart of America's dairy land as the first exclusively vegan eatery in Southern Wisconsin.

The Cheese Factory Restaurant opened as a vegetarian restaurant a decade before Wisconsin Dells became “the water park capital of the world”.

Always the first in town to ride the wave of healthy changes occurring in the American food industry, the restaurant will now unveil a robust, scrumptious, exclusively vegan and non-GMO menu at its grand re-opening on December 20, 2013. And before you ask, the popular in-house bakery will also present an array of decadent, divinely delicious vegan desserts, with some new tasty twists at the cappuccino bar as well.

The irony of a vegetarian restaurant opening in the heart of Dairy land – and in a charming 1930’s former cheese store building – created a stir of local gossip in 1992. It seemed strange back then, not only due to the name and the food, but also because the building sat all alone in a then-barren stretch of Highway 12 – surrounded only by a few small motels and a golf course.

No one could have foreseen the influx of huge indoor water parks, the massive Ho-Chunk entertainment complex, and a designer outlet shopping mall in the Wisconsin Dells area, attracting an ever-expanding diversity of new tourists from around the globe.

Located now in the heart of “the water park capital of the world,” The Cheese Factory Restaurant has become a famous and familiar dining icon in the Dells area – another kid-friendly magnet for families – this one with a welcome nutritious, healthy bent. Add to that the friendly, charming staff at the restaurant and the mystical emanation of love and forgiveness present in the dining room – and you have another unique, heart-warming experience to treasure for many years to come.

Speaking enthusiastically of the new, exclusively plant-based, non GMO menu, Chef Sage-Louise assures the restaurants customers — many of whom have dined regularly at the restaurant for nearly two decades — that “although we will kick off this new venture with a somewhat slimmed down menu, you may rest assured that new and improved versions of old favorites, such as the famous succulent triple-decker grilled cheese sandwich, ‘The Big Cheese,’ will again grace our menu before long.”

The Cheese Factory Restaurant is located at 521 Wisconsin Dells Parkway S. on Highway 12 in Wisconsin Dells, WI. The grand re-opening will take place on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 12:00 noon. Reservations, though not required, are recommended.
