Charley & Co. Receives Best Home Décor and Best Unique Gifts in Good Times’ Annual “Best Of” Contest

Charley & Co. (www.CharleyNCo.com), a retail store in downtown Capitola, received two awards – one for “Best Home Décor” and another for “Best Unique Gifts” — in Good Times’ annual “Best Of” Santa Cruz County contest. Voting started mid-February; winners were announced on April 24.

Good Times’ annual “Best Of” poll is a tribute to all that makes Santa Cruz County a unique place to live, work, play, dine and shop. With thousands of voters participating, the “Best Of” poll serves as the quintessential insider’s reference guide for residents and visitors alike.

Charley & Co. will celebrate its second birthday on May 25. Since 2012, the shop has served as a pet-friendly space where Santa Cruz-area locals and visitors alike can pick up high-quality, unique gifts and home décor. Store owner Starley Moore-Bullard features products that are eco-friendly that serve to create an eclectic mix of high-quality, well-made products.

“I pride myself in offering unique, sometimes funky, sometimes inspirational, but always quality home decor, gifts and accessories that you won’t find everywhere else,” said Bullard-Moore. “I just love bringing new and old, modern and rustic and even serious and fun together to make something altogether different and special.”

Bullard-Moore has been in the interior design business for over 20 years. In addition to having a retail store, she specializes in custom furniture design – including coffee tables, benches made from reclaimed wood, metal and other materials. Her theory: “If you love it, it can work in your space.” She also helps with home redesigns all over Santa Cruz County and the San Francisco Bay Area – and maintains the philosophy that she can make anyone’s style come to life to make the pieces fit.

Bullard-Moore believes that proper interior design focuses on the look and feel of a room, and that the way a room looks is not for everyone else — it’s for the homeowner and his or her lifestyle. Her process is to not only see the space, but to get a good understanding of her clients likes, dislikes and preferred styles to come up with a design that’s satisfying – one that blends in with the overall look and feel of a home.
