Celebrate the Three Kings Festival in Mallorca

If you will be enjoying a villa holiday in Mallorca during January 2012, you will be fortunate enough to catch one of the largest celebrations in Mallorca’s calendar: The Festival of Three Kings.

Each year, Majorca’s capital city, towns and villages come alive with a colourful carnival feel, when floats and parades travel throughout the Balearic Island’s streets. Regarded by many as the most important day during the Christmas season in Spain, The Three King’s Festival takes place on the 5th of January.

One of the largest parades is held in Palma, where the procession starts at the old port of La Llonja on the promenade Sagrera. The procession will follow a route that takes it through many parts of the city, with sweets being handed throughout the journey. In keeping with many of Mallorca’s festivals and carnivals, there will be plenty of floats, including one for each of the kings. With plenty of music, colour and atmosphere, the parade is certainly not to be missed if you are staying in villas in Mallorca during January.

Palma is not the only resort that celebrates the event in style; Puerto Pollensa hosts a wonderful parade that brings the floats and procession along the fabulous Pine Walk pedestrian walkway.

Wherever you stay in Mallorca, you are sure to find the atmosphere of the 5th of December’s Three King’s celebrations to be another great reason to visit the Island.
