Local Senior Living Community Celebrates National Assisted Living Week

New Jersey (PRUnderground) October 6th, 2015

Brandywine Senior Living celebrated National Assisted Living Week for it’s 15th year, spanning across 27 communities in NJ, PA, DE, NY, and CT, from September 13-19. This year’s theme, “Nourishing Life: Mind, Body and Spirit” celebrated the countless ways our Brandywine communities recognize the unique individuals that reside in our assisted living and memory care communities and the Brandywine team members who are committed to providing amazing care, love, and support every day.

The communities celebrated and competed in a weeklong program bringing to life a perfect week for their residents, families and teams. Events and programs included: Spirit Day (Dresher vs. Haverford) at Mondauk Park; 2016 Calendar Release Party at Fenwick Island; All American Baseball Picnic at Voorhees; Eternal Elegance Prom with Ballroom Dancing at Senior Suites; Life Advice Video Unveiling at Middlebrook Crossing; Nostalgic Fashion Show at Mountain Ridge. And, the list goes on and on… In addition, video essay submissions, called The INVEST Project, captured the essence of our memory care residents and their stories.

“Each year we celebrate, through a company-wide competition, that engages our residents, team members, and families in life enriching programs during National Assisted Living Week,” said Maria Nadelstumph, Vice President of Organizational Development & Program Excellence. “Residents danced, laughed, competed in fun competitions and many tried something new. Stories were formed that will be shared throughout the year.”

To nourish yourselves, is by helping others and that’s exactly what they did this year. Throughout the week, communities held various events and fundraisers to benefit local and national charities.  Residents got hands on to help out their communities by baking home made dog treats for local animal shelters and SPCA, created crafts and sent thank you cards for their local police departments and those in service, collected canned goods to benefit their food banks, and even held a “Dunk & Donate” fundraiser with all donations going to St. Jude’s Research Hospital. A total of $4,946 was raised and distributed amongst these organizations and charities in addition to the Alzheimer’s Association, Cradles and Crayons, and The Ronald McDonald House.
