London (PRUnderground) March 19th, 2012

If you have been to the cinema recently and enjoyed the Daniel Radcliffe horror film The Woman in Black, why not book London theatre breaks to see the exciting and spooky stage version live in the theatre capital.

The play, based on the 1983 novel by Susan Hill started off its life in Scarborough in 1987, before transferring to the West End in 1989. It has played at various venues around the city and is currently showing at the Fortune Theatre.

The Woman in Black was adapted for stage by Stephen Mallatratt and is amazingly the second longest running non musical play in the West End and has been seen by over 7 million people.

If you are not familiar with the story, it follows a junior solicitor named Arthur Kipps who has to attend a funeral of his client in small market town, Crythin Gifford. He spots a woman, dressed in black at the funeral and finds the villagers unwilling to talk about her. He visits his client’s house to attend to her papers and discovers a deadly secret when he is trapped at the house.

The Woman in Black is a wonderfully terrifying show to see as you are fully immersed in the ghostly world the story is set in.
