Hugely popular singer-songwriter Newton Faulkner is preparing for the release of a new EP and has announced a nationwide tour in support of it, which will include two dates in the UK capital. Bursting onto the scene in 2007 with his chart-topping debut album Hand Built by Robots, Faulkner has made a name for himself as a leading light of modern-day acoustic music. Perhaps best known for his top ten single ‘Dream Catch Me’, the Surrey-based guitarist saw his first release gain platinum status twice, making him a household name amongst fans of both folk and mainstream pop.
Faulkner honed his innovative, percussive guitar style whilst gaining two diplomas at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, and later enjoyed further success with his second record, 2009’s Rebuilt by Humans.
Famed for his ginger dreadlocks, humorous and musically flawless live performances, and a celebrated cover version of the Massive Attack classic ‘Teardrop’, Faulkner is one of the most talented and exciting acts playing in the UK today.
Sketches is the first selection of new material to surface from the artist in three years, and will serve as a tantalising forerunner to his third full-length album, tentatively scheduled for release before the end of 2012.
