It has just been announced that author Ian McEwan and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown will be in attendance this August. Both will be giving lectures at the National Library of Scotland, which are sure to be fascinating.
Other notable guests include Zadie Smith, Howard Jacobson, Pat Barker and Will Self who will be joining around 800 writers and thinkers from around the globe.
The 2012 programme focuses on rethinking the world around us, asking guests and visitors to discuss the important issues around the world including the planet’s resources and Scottish independence.
Whilst the main programme might sound heavy, there is the RBS Children’s Programme that allows younger children to catch up on the latest books and teenagers can check out the latest graphic novels. From babies to teenagers, there is something for all ages to take part it.
The festival runs from August 11th through to the 27th so there is plenty of time to book your hotels and enjoy the programme. Tickets go on sale from June 29th.
