Arthur’s Day, for those who don’t already know, has been an annual celebration in Dublin since 2009 which marked 250 years of brewing Guinness. Both the drink and the day are named after the creator of the drink, Arthur Guinness.
The day is full of top-class performances from music stars in all kinds of locations, and is also celebrated in cities like Kuala Lumpur, New York and Lagos. However, there is nowhere like the home of Guinness in which to celebrate the brewing of the famous beverage.
Although the line up has yet to be announced, the previous year’s performers demonstrate that Arthur’s Day is a star-studded event; Stereophonics, Scissor Sisters, Ed Sheeran and Paloma Faith were just some of the performing acts last year.
In true Irish style, spectators are to raise a glass of the drink in honour of Arthur Guinness at 17:59, a reference to 1759 which is the year that the brewery was established.
