Dublin is a city full of culture and has a keen eye for performing arts, with some of the greatest acts of the world gracing the boards of the city’s theatres. Here are just some of the exciting pantomimes and musical performances that happen to be returning to Dublin this winter the whole family can enjoy.

The Cheerios Panto-Sleeping Beauty- Has the renowned pantomime story returned to Dublin? Oh yes it has! The tale of sleeping beauty is a classic for adults and children alike, packed full of marvellous magic, lots of laughter, fun and frolics plus a few little surprises in between. The pantomime opened at the city’s Tivoli theatre on the 14th December and will feature until the 15th January 2012.

Jedward and the Beanstalk- It’s the return of John and Edward, more commonly known as Jedward. The X-Factor and Celebrity Big Brother contestants are set to return to Dublin’s Olympia theatre, a venue they made their home last year in the production of Cinderella. This year sees them in their very own pantomime, a deviation from the classic story of Jack and the Beanstalk. The production will open at 21st December at the Olympia theatre, showing until the 8th January 2012

Van Morrison- Mr Van Morrison is an artist that needs no introduction; his musical ability is simply unquestioned and is regarded as one of the most original recording artists in the 19th century. He is set to return to the city for his first concert for more than a decade, bringing a selection of his finest tracks that made him famous around the world. Van Morrison will be performing on February 4th 2012 at Dublin’s 02 Arena.

Strictly Come Dancing- Once again, its time to witness some scintillating dancing from a selection of stars from BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing as the tour returns for its fifth year. Among the list of stars already confirmed for the event are former footballer Robbie Savage, former Olympic swimmer Mark Foster and ex-Eastenders actor Anita Dobson, as well as the finalists of this years show Jason Donavon and Chelsee Healey. The tour will stop at the 02 Arena on the 22nd and 23rd February 2012.
