Book Design Typography Workshop Emphasizes Information Hierarchy

New 'Setting The Table' Typography WorkshopAt TypeEd Will Be Lead By Experienced Book Designer, Shannon Losorelli-Doronio

TypeEd, the LA-based typography education program for the design community, announced publication designer Shannon Losorelli-Doronio as the guest instructor for the “Setting The Table” workshop, which will teach the fundamentals of publication design. The seven-hour intensive sessions will be repeated on two dates; Saturday, March 15 and Saturday, May 10 at TypeEd HQ in downtown Los Angeles, California.

“Publication design organizes information to deliver a message in the most impactful way possible,” said Losorelli-Doronio. “Presentation, organization and well-thought-out concepts engage the reader.”

“Shannon’s workshop will add immensely valuable skills for designers. And she’ll help advanced designers how to implement a sophisticated use of information hierarchy and layout,“ noted Michael Stinson, Director of Education at TypeEd.

Losorelli-Doronio is a partner at Parallel-Play, a multi-disciplinary design studio in northern Los Angeles. She has recently designed and developed annual reports for both 826LA and 826National, Edward Kienholz and Frederick Hammersley exhibition catalogs for LA Louver, A Ring of Sunshine Around the Moon book for the Echo Park Time Travel Mart, and Beard, a book of photographs from the World Beard and Moustache Championships by Matthew Rainwaters for Chronicle Books.

Tickets are $150, $140 for AIGA Members and $125 for college students. Pre-registration is required before attending. Participants must have a basic understanding of letterform anatomy before enrolling and encompass basic Adobe InDesign skills, and have taken the Type 2 Class offered at TypeEd. Participants must bring a laptop computer with Adobe InDesign installed.

Registration for the Setting The Table workshop will open mid-February.
