One of the most influential artists of his generation, the always controversial Damien Hirst will be enjoying a special exhibition of his life’s work at the Tate Modern in London later this year. Starting on 4th April and going on until 9th September, this retrospective look will include some of the most famous pieces which have brought him such widespread acclaim and notoriety.

Since he burst onto the world art scene over twenty years ago, Hirst has made his name defying convention and often causing outrage amongst his peers and contemporaries. His most infamous piece, ‘The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living’ – more widely recognised as a shark suspended in formaldehyde – will be just one of the more than seventy classic works on display.

As well as those wishing to learn more about the artist’s work, this one-off exhibition is also a must-visit for seasoned fans of Hirst’s creations. The retrospective will impressively feature works such as ‘In and Out of Love’, which has not been displayed fully since it was first completed in 1991. Widely known for his explorations of life and death, other infamous pieces that have caused a stir since their release and will be seen in the exhibition include ‘Mother and Child Divided’, a sculpture consisting of a bisected cow and calf.

Damien Hirst has enjoyed incredible success since first rising to prominence, including receiving the DAAD fellowship in 1994 and winning the Turner Prize in 1995.

Why not book a stay at the LSE in 2012 and enjoy all the comfort and great value of a bed and breakfast in London?
