Blueprint Healthcare IT to Lead Strategic Transition of HIE Platform

Industry: Healthcare

Supporting exchange between multiple HIEs, new platform to enable advanced capabilities to Camden HIE stakeholders and patient population

Cranbury, NJ (PRUnderground) February 22nd, 2013

BluePrint Healthcare IT and the Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers today announced an agreement for BluePrint to manage the transition of the Camden Health Information Exchange (HIE) to a more advanced technology platform in 2013.

This transition will employ BluePrint: HIE Manager software to manage workflow and documentation – enabling the Camden HIE to more effectively connect the Coalition’s member hospitals and physician practices in New Jersey, as well as other HIEs. Camden will rely on BluePrint project management, information security, and HIE architecture experts to meet the clinical and business information exchange needs of the Camden HIE participants.

Camden HIE Director, Sandi Selzer said, “BluePrint’s unique combination of HIE implementation services and software made them the best partner for managing our HIE transition. Having experience with CRMs and facing the challenge of keeping up with all the people and processes of managing and operationalizing an HIE, I immediately recognized the value that BluePrint: HIE Manager would bring to running all the aspects of an HIE, including the capability for immediate analysis.”

Built on Microsoft Dynamics CRM, BluePrint: HIE Manager is the only workflow and project management software that administers the onboarding and lifecycle of the entire HIE “ecosystem” – including hospitals, physician practices, business partners, HIE vendors, and other stakeholders.

“BluePrint uses a unique team approach while combining consulting services and software to accelerate implementation and adoption of HIE technology. We are proud to be working with the Camden Coalition, one of the more innovative health care organizations in the country. The opportunity to help improve the lives of their patients and make a true difference in transforming healthcare is an endeavor we take most seriously,” said BluePrint President and CEO, Vikas Khosla.

The Coalition, under the leadership of Dr. Jeffrey Brenner, has achieved national recognition for focusing on the superutilizers of emergency departments and hospitals to improve the quality of care and reduce overall healthcare costs in Camden, NJ. The New Yorker article, “The Hot Spotters” (Jan. 24, 2011), written by physician Atual Guwande, featured the work of Dr. Brenner and the Camden Coalition. In 2012, The Coalition received international attention on Farid Zakaria’s CNN program, Global Lessons: The GPS Road Map for Saving Health Care, and received a healthcare innovation grant from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
