Beware: CMV Can Cause Viral Pneumonia; The CBCD Reviews the Medical Evidence
Industry: Health & Fitness
CMV can cause a viral infection of the lungs that becomes pneumonia. (1) The CBCD reviews the medical evidence and recommends two natural CMV remedies.

The cytomegalovirus (CMV) can cause viral pneumonia. Dr. Cinel and colleagues wrote in a new study that CMV lung infections are “being recognized more frequently, particularly when presenting as severe viral pneumonia.” (1) The cytomegalovirus is a herpesvirus that establishes a latent infection and that causes a cough and difficulty breathing when infection leads to pneumonia. “Symptoms of cytomegalovirus pneumonia include anorexia, dry cough, fever, muscle aches, shortness of breath, excessive sweating, and fatigue.” (2) Dr. Cinel and colleagues are from the Pediatric Pulmonology Department, Faculty of Medicine at the Hacettepe University, Ihsan Dogramacı Children’s Hospital, in Ankara, Turkey.

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) recommends that people infected with CMV take Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR. The formula of these natural antiviral products was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin formula is effective against the herpes simplex virus, and other viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with the CMV … reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR.” (3) The study authors also wrote that, “we observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (3)
Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Their formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses. To date, Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR are the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support their claims.
“Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs that is caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites. It is characterized primarily by inflammation of the alveoli in the lungs or by alveoli that are filled with fluid (alveoli are microscopic sacs in the lungs that absorb oxygen). At times a very serious condition, pneumonia can make a person very sick or even cause death.” (4)
“In the United States, more than 3 million people develop pneumonia each year, and about 17% of these receive treatment in a hospital. Most people with pneumonia recover, but about 5% will succumb to the condition.” (4)
What treatments are available against the cytomegalovirus?
“Several drugs are approved for the treatment of CMV infections in immunocompromised individuals. These drugs include ganciclovir, its oral prodrug valganciclovir, cidofovir, foscavir and fomivirsen. However, the use of these drugs in immunocompetent individuals is limited by their toxicity, poor oral bioavailability, modest efficacy, and the development of drug resistance.” (3) There are also two natural CMV remedies with a clinically proven formula.
The CBCD believes that these facts, combined with the medical evidence presented above, indicate the need to target latent viruses like CMV.

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (http://www.cbcd.net) is a not-for-profit tax-exempt organization under section 501(c) 3 of the IRS tax code. The center’s mission is to advance the research on the biology of chronic disease and to accelerate the discovery of a cure for these diseases. The CBCD first published Dr. Hanan Polansky’s highly acclaimed “Purple” book, entitled “Microcompetition with Foreign DNA and the Origin of Chronic Disease” in 2003. In this book, he explains how foreign DNA fragments can cause many major diseases. The book has been read by more than 5,000 scientists around the world, and has been reviewed in more than 20 leading scientific journals. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
