Behind The Scenes With A Fashion Wardrobe Consultant

Industry: Fashion & Accessories

Fashion wardrobe consultant Pam Friedlander takes us behind the scenes of a magazine photo shoot with a cover model.

New York, NY (PRUnderground) March 12th, 2013

Wardrobe consultant Pamela Friedlander makes her way through Tara Cook-Littman’s closet like a pro on a mission — which, in fact, she is.

She pulls out black trousers, then jackets, jeans, colorful tops and sweaters. “Tell me which pair of jeans is your favorite. Which one fits you the best?” Friedlander asks. So what’s her reason for being in Cook-Littman’s closet? She is there, along with HealthyLife, to put together outfits from the Fairfield resident’s own wardrobe for the magazine’s cover shoot.

And Friedlander makes quick work of the matter, with several outfits chosen and accessorized for our February cover model in less than two hours. And although she’s brought lots of great accessories from her own collection, pieces she offers to her clients to help them complete their look, we are able to find everything we need in Cook-Littman’s own closet.

“I never wear this,” Cook-Littman says when Friedlander pulls out a navy blue “boyfriend” jacket and puts it together with a bright pink ruffled top and her favorite pair of jeans. But Friedlander suggests rolling up the sleeves, which gives the jacket — and outfit — a completely different look.

Cook-Littman likes what she sees. “I’ll have to wear this more often,” she says, smiling.

Outfits chosen, we turn our prep to the day of the cover shoot, which begins a few days later, bright and early at Blow Dry Southport. There, Cook-Littman has her very curly locks professionally styled and her makeup expertly applied. Then it’s off to The Studio, an art space in Fairfield. HealthyLife chose The Studio fort its shoot location because of its open, industrial-type space. And lucky for us, owners (and teachers) Priscilla Igram and Christine Orlando were happy to welcome us.

When we arrived at The Studio, photographer Dru Nadler was hard at work unloading and setting up lights. Just a quick change by Cook-Littman into her first outfit and the shoot began. Take a look through our slide show and see the results!
