Apex Insight provides commercial due diligence to support e-learning acquisition

Industry: Consulting

GMT Communications Partners’ e-learning business, Seagull AS, has acquired MindIT Solutions, a provider of e-learning content for the offshore oil & gas industry

United Kingdom (PRUnderground) July 28th, 2014

Apex Insight has provided commercial due diligence to support this acquisition of an e-learning content provider by a private equity backed group.

MindIT Solutions AS, based at Kristiansand in Norway, provides bespoke e-learning systems and content to the offshore oil and gas industries.

It has been acquired by Seagull AS, the leading provider of e-learning systems to the global maritime and shipping industry, based at Horten in Norway.

GMT Communications Partners, the leading private equity firm focusing on investments in the European communications industry, and which manages funds in excess of €775m, is an investor in Seagull.

Apex Insight carried out commercial due diligence to support the transaction.  This work confirmed that use of e-learning in the offshore sector continues to grow.  Buyers of e-learning services interviewed during the project reported that it gave them significant benefits, not only from cost savings, but also from being able to disseminate information quickly across their organisations and by providing an audit trail to demonstrate compliance with corporate training objectives and regulatory requirements.

Vikram Krishna from GMT said:

“Apex Insight’s commercial work produced new information which gave independent confirmation of the strength of the market opportunity for off-the-shelf e-learning in the offshore industry and the factors which are driving it.”
