The Monica Bay STEM Leadership Committee is pleased to announce that the first Monica Bay STEM Leadership Award will be awarded to Alison Grounds at the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) Conference.

Ms. Grounds is a litigation partner at Troutman Sanders and the Founding and Managing Director of the firm’s eDiscovery subsidiary, Troutman Sanders eMerge. In these roles, she has provided, and continues to provide, opportunities for women to develop careers in the field of legal technology. ILTA honored Ms. Grounds with its Technology Advocate of the Year award in 2013 for her efforts to launch eMerge.

Gail Gottehrer, Chair of the Monica Bay STEM Leadership Committee stated, “We are pleased to announce the first winner of the Monica Bay STEM Leadership Award. The award was created to recognize the significant contributions Monica Bay has made to the legal, technology and literary communities in her career to date. Monica has inspired many people to reach outside their comfort zones and supported them in those efforts. We are thrilled that Alison Grounds is the first recipient of this award. Like Monica, Alison is a leader and a role model for women in STEM. We look forward to honoring Monica and Alison at the ILTA Conference.”

The Monica Bay STEM Leadership award recognizes individuals whose contributions have led to innovation and progress in the Legal Technology Industry. Named for Monica Bay, this annual award will be given to leaders who demonstrate a commitment to the mentorship and advancement of women in the legal technology field and who stand out as team players and thought leaders. In partnership with The “Women Who Lead” and the International Legal Technology Association (“ILTA”), the Monica Bay STEM Leadership Committee is proud to announce that the award ceremony will be held at ILTA’s Annual Conference. Monica Bay will present the award to Alison Grounds at the ILTA conference in Las Vegas on Wednesday, September 2nd at 4:15 PM.

Randi Mayes, Executive Director of ILTA, stated that “The ‘Women Who Lead” are a long-established group of leaders who advoicate for women in the legal technology arena. Their session at our annual conference, ILTACON 2015, is an opportunity to learn from and network with distinguished women in the sector. I’m delighted that this session will be the venue at which the 2015 recipient of the Monica Bay STEM Leadership Award will be honored. Alison Grounds will be recognized for her outstanding work that is representative of this award. I congratulate Alison on this well-deserved honor and look forward to celebrating with her and the award’s namesake, Monica Bay, at ILTACON 2015.”
