Agor Behavioral Health Services Welcomes Lisa Eaton, MSW, LCSW, CADC

Agor Behavioral Health Services, Inc. is pleased to welcome Lisa Eaton, MSW, LCSW, CADC, to the practice. She provides therapy services for children, adolescents and adults in individual, family and group appointments.

On Therapy

Lisa believes that it takes a lot of courage to meet with a therapist. She is sensitive to the journey that led people to her office.  Lisa has a friendly, collaborative approach in developing relationships with her clients.  She feels that one of the most important change agents in the treatment process is the relationship developed between client and therapist.  Lisa strives to help her clients feel comfortable and safe. She works with her clients to help them build skills to manage stressors and overcome obstacles.  She uses a strengths-based approach, along with evidenced-based therapy techniques, to help her clients move from where they are to where they would like to be.

“We are always stronger and more resilient than we realize,” said Eaton, regarding therapy. “Helping others to see and feel that is inspiring for me. I especially enjoy working with both young children and teenagers because they have such a unique way of looking at the world – usually with a lot of boldness and humor!”

Some of Lisa’s specialized treatment approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Motivational Interviewing, and many different Play Therapy approaches, including Trauma-Focused Integrated Play Therapy.

Experience & Education

Lisa has experience treating young children, adolescents, families, and those with substance abuse issues, utilizing a variety of treatment approaches, depending on the needs of her clients.  Her areas of specialty include:  childhood depression, anxiety, ADHD, and bipolar disorder; adolescent and adult substance abuse issues; parent training and child behavior issues; family conflict and divorce; and treating childhood trauma, including PTSD.  She also enjoys working with children and adolescents on issues related to self-esteem, healthy relationships, identity and goal-setting.  Lisa has extensive experience and training treating clients as young as two years old through early adulthood.

Lisa completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California Irvine, where she majored in Psychology and Social Behavior.  She returned to Illinois to attend graduate school at Aurora University, where she earned her Master of Social Work degree.  Lisa practices as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and is completing her Registered Play Therapist credentials.
