Agor Behavioral Health Services Welcomes Dr. Sarah Syed, PsyD

Agor Behavioral Health Services, Inc. is pleased to welcome Dr. Sarah Syed, PsyD, to the practice. She provides therapy services for individuals, couples and families.

Dr. Sarah Syed believes in therapy as a time in which to examine the biological, intellectual, social, occupational, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the whole person. She believes that all of these interact for the well-being or detriment of the person.

“In therapy with me, you will be part of the process and along with my guidance and expertise we will work to help you alleviate your negative symptoms and feel better,” said Dr. Syed. “I work hard to make sure therapy is a safe, judgement free place for you to discuss your concerns and feel relief.”

Dr. Syed also explained that in therapy, clients will examine the choices they have made in their life, and how they may contribute to any problems they are experiencing. She said, “It is important to examine how a person interacts within his or her family so he or she will probably be asked some questions about family background so a better understanding of situations and problems affecting the client can be reviewed.”

Dr. Syed believes every individual has within them the tools needed to resolve their own difficulties. In general, she will work together with each client to establish therapeutic goals and may suggest techniques and tools that may be utilized in the achievement of those goals.

Dr. William Agor, PsyD, owner of Agor Behavioral Health Services, Inc., is pleased that Dr. Syed has joined the staff of his practice. Dr. Agor said, “Dr. Syed’s experience with counseling of children, family and couples, along with her knowledge of diagnostic, vocational and neuropsychological testing, provide a valuable addition to our practice.”

Dr. Syed has a broad range of experience working within the field of psychology including diagnostic and vocational testing, career counseling, domestic violence, Muslim and South Asian issues, addictions, family and couples therapy, depression, anxiety, stress, adjustment, grief/loss, school concerns, lifespan adjustment and community mental health. Her pre-doctoral experiences include neuropsychology testing, children, family and couples counseling and inpatient psychiatric care of adults with moderate to severe psychiatric issues.

Dr. Syed completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Purdue University. Her master’s degree is in clinical psychology and was obtained from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in 2007. Dr. Syed completed her doctorate in clinical psychology at the Texas School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Dallas, Texas in 2014.
