6, 9, 11 or 16 nights?, Med villa rentals peak season stays fit with cheap flights

For example, Villa Ionaida  on Crete is a modern villa with private pool within 10 minutes’ drive of the beach at Almirida, and five minutes’ walk from Douliana village: ideal for a drink with the locals at the kafenion in the square.  Surrounded by fig, olive and carob trees, this rural idyll with all mod cons sleeps four in two bedrooms, plus a pull-out bed in the twin bedroom accommodating an extra child. 16 nights in August, at £185 per night, costs £2960.

Also on Crete, stylish Villa Polymnia costs £199 a night in August and comfortably sleeps four, five at a push, with accommodation on one level.  A bamboo veranda leads onto the pool deck and there are superb views to the sea at Maleme, just five minutes’ drive away.  Six nights at this villa in Crete in August costs £1194 and 10 nights £1990.

Among the Mallorca villas with pools is Cana Joana, a spacious finca on a large plot near Santa Margarlida.  White drapes romantically shade the full-length veranda that overlooks the lovely gardens and large swimming pool. Another second dining area is served by an ‘outdoor’ kitchen.  Three ground floor bedrooms sleep six, and upstairs a big living room offers panoramic views through the picture windows the stunning Majorca landscape. Remaining peak season nights are £214, making a nine-night holiday £1116.

And two simple seaside beach houses on Sardinia – Casa Professore  1 and 2 – each sleeping up to four and set in a quiet, chilled out  area of Cala Liberotto, may not have a pool, but do have direct access down the garden path through the pines trees to the sandy beach 150 metres away.   A £143 per night, an eight night peak season stay costs £1144.
