5th Annual Crewe Cup to be played at Bandon Dunes in August

The 5th Annual Crewe Cup is a prestigious golf competition set to begin Monday, August 3rd and run through Thursday, August 6th. This year’s event will be held at Bandon Dunes which has been ranked as the Best Golf Resort in North America by Golf Digest. All net profits from the event will be donated to charity.

While thousands of charity golf events are held each year, the format of this event is truly unique. 24 celebrities and high-level executives will board a chartered jet and make the flight to isolated Bandon, Oregon. This year’s captains, Julius ‘Dr. J’ Erving (NBA Hall of Famer) and Danny Ainge (President of Basketball Operations of the Boston Celtics), will each lead a 12-man team in 4 rounds of match play golf competing for the coveted Crewe Cup and a Crewe Cup Champions Jacket tailored by high-end fashion designer Beckett & Robb. 2015 notable competitors also include actors Michael Peña and Danny Masterson. After being part of the 2014 winning team in Scotland, ‘Dr. J’ said, “This Crewe Cup will go on the shelf right next to my NBA Championship trophy.”

The competitors range across all skill-levels and for the first two rounds both captains will strategically pair together 2-man teams to compete. For the final 2 rounds, competitors will play head-to-head singles matches. Each victory is worth one point and a halved match is worth half a point. The team with the most points at the end are Crewe Cup Champions. Crewe Cup champions have preferred playing rights to future tournaments. Only those who have won a Crewe Cup are permitted to invite non Crewe Cup champions to compete in future Crewe Cup tournaments. Past participants include NFL Hall of Famers Jerry Rice, Steve Young, and Jerome Bettis; MLB Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith; and Qualtrics CEO Ryan Smith (Recently named #2 on Forbes’ list “America’s Most Promising CEOs Under 35”).

Many generous sponsors have added to the excitement of this event including Rolls Royce Motor-Cars, Leisure Society, and Scotty Cameron. The official uniform provider of the Crewe Cup is G-MAC by Kartel, the signature line of Graeme McDowell (Former US Open champion). Official outerwear is provided by Galvin Green.

The 2015 Crewe Cup is expecting to support many charitable efforts. Josh Romney, President of CharityVision International, said, “We expect that donations from the 2015 Crewe Cup will be used to cure blindness for over 2000 people all over the world.”
