2014 Government Contracts For Small Businesses Looks Bright From Hales Global Management Research
The top federal agencies driving contracts growth for small businesses in 2014 will be the Department of Defense, Veterans Administration and Health and Human Services.

In 2013 due to the lack of a federal budget all federal government agencies were forced to cut back on their spending for goods and services. The General Services Administration the largest buyer of goods and services in the world predicts that 2014-2016 will be full of robust opportunities for startups and small businesses who sell products and services.
The share of federal procurement for small businesses? In fiscal year 2011, 21.7 percent of federal government small-business-eligible purchases went to small businesses. The Department of Defense accounted for the majority of small business procurement.
The survival rate for new businesses and particular for those selling to the federal government survive five more years or more and about one-third survive 10 years or more. As one would expect, the probability of survival increases with a firm’s age and government contract extensions. Historically contract extensions usually means increase spending with that particular company.
